Take advantage of a trip to Lapland to watch an ice hockey game in Rovaniemi. An unusual outing for tourists but very popular with locals.
RoKi Hockey Club, Rovaniemen Kiekko-79, founded in 1979, represents Rovaniemi and Finnish Lapland at the local and national level, playing in the second division “Mestis” Hockey League. Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Finland, and the second division “Mestis” Hockey League is the second highest level of Finnish ice hockey.
RoKi Hockey Club has been named Santa Claus’ Official Hockey Club by the Santa Claus Foundation. The games are held at Lappi Areena in Rovaniemi, which has a capacity of 3,500 seats. Approximately 1,400 spectators regularly attend the seasonal games.
You can attend both seasonal games and training games.

The game time is 60 minutes, divided into 3 periods of 20 minutes, with between every third time a break of 15 minutes

The matches are held in Lappi Areena, 2.6 km from the center of Rovaniemi (Hiihtomajantie 6, 96400 Rovaniemi).
You can get there :- by taxi : Taksi Rovaniemi (+358 600 14000) or Menevä (+358 800 02120)
- on foot : 36 minutes walk from the city center
- by car : 9 minutes drive
- Where to park :
The area around Lappi Areena has 600 parking spaces, offered to users of the sports facilities of Ounasvaara and to walkers. There is a paved car park, just above Lappi Areena, which it is best to use. - Where to eat :
- The kiosks and restaurants at Lappi Areena are open during the matches ; they offer refreshments, coffee, tea, pastries, popcorn, sausages, hot dogs and treats.
- There are three kiosks in the main corridor and the Novelle restaurant at the end of the main corridor.
- There are three kiosks in the upper corridor of the arena.
- The bar in the stand C offers excellent views to watch the match.
- The spectators in the auditoriums G, H and I have access to the Karelia bar, located in the upper corridor.
