WHAT TO DO IN LAPLAND IN WINTER ?
As winter approaches, Lapland is a breathtaking region. Snow, ice, open spaces and nature unlike anywhere else. Although the days are short, the sky will often offer you beautiful spectacles : whether it’s the famous aurora borealis, or simply the gorgeous pastel pink and blue colors of sunrises and sunsets.
WHAT TO DO IN LAPLAND IN SPRING ?
In spring, the sun has already largely returned, and the days are much longer and sunnier. We really enjoy going on several-hour snowmobile trips and stopping to fish, and picnic on the frozen lakes.
WHAT TO DO IN LAPLAND IN SUMMER ?
In late spring and summer, Lapland reveals a completely different nature. The forests, as well as the lakes and rivers, will once again welcome all the animals that hibernate or migrate during the winter: a real awakening of the fauna and flora. To discover these new landscapes, there are a large number of possible activities such as hiking and camping, but also bike or horse riding. If you want to enjoy and explore the many lakes and rivers, we recommend you canoeing/kayaking or even a boat trip to our floating sauna.
An omnipresent nature under the midnight sun :
In addition to the walks, fishing and picking wild berries (blueberries, blackberries…) are part of the daily life of most locals.
Unlike winter, during which the days can be very short in Lapland (especially in December), summer offers us another spectacle hard to match : the Midnight Sun !
WHAT TO DO IN LAPLAND IN AUTUMN ?
Before Lapland puts on its white coat again and plunges into winter, it will transform itself and offer a new show. This show is one of autumn, absolute calm, and the transformation of vegetation. At this time (September), the red, yellow and orange hues of the leaves offer an explosion of color, known here as “ruska.” At this time, it is possible to visit a reindeer farm by boat, or go on a horse ride. Autumn is also the time when the northern lights are visible again in Lapland.
